Double Your Profit at VIPKid

I'm not talking about money. What's better than earning up to $22 an hour? Earning the pleasure of Allah and His reward at the same time. So, I've compiled a list of easy things to do to make your VIPKid journey profitable in this world and the next, In sha Allah. 1. Remember, you could be the only Muslim your Chinese students ever meet. Try to do your best in class to leave a good impression, not only so that they book you again, but so that you have represented Islam in a positive light. 2. Start every class with Bismillah. Remember that Allah loves those who do their best. 3. You can pray this dua before starting class, asking for Allah's help: Rabb-ishrah li sadri, wa yassir li ‘amri, Wah-lul ‘uqdatam-min-li-saani, Yaf-qahuu qawlii O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness); Ease my task for me; And remove the impediment from my speech, so they may understand what I say [Surah Ta-Ha; 20:25-28] . رَبّ...

The Biq Question: I'm Muslim.. Will I have Issues at VIPKid?

No, in sha Allah. My experience has been very positive throughout. During recruitment, both my mentors were extra friendly (teaching online requires you to be extra friendly.. be prepared for your cheek muscles to ache!).  I used a hijab as a prop to play peek-a-boo during my mock class and they loved it. The hiring process was quite straightforward.. the hiccups were from my side as I scrambled for documents. Documents including a Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Studies.. in Arabic .. nobody blinked twice, except to ask me to provide a translation of said degree. I was a bit worried when it came to being booked though. You can get hired yes, but it's up to the parents in China to book your classes after looking at your profile picture (which, yes, shows me in hijab). Now this is speculation, but Alhamdulillah, I have a feeling I actually get more bookings because of my hijab. When the parents are looking for a teacher, they're seeing thousands of pictures...

Why VIPKid?

There are many online teaching companies out there. Why do I love VIPKid? 1. The kids. Seriously, they are adorable. Aged around 4 to 14 (with the occasional 3 year old!), most of these kids love to see you. Plus, as a Muslim girl, I like that the company targets kids exclusively.. none of the awkwardness of teaching guys my age or older :P 2. Flexibility. I set my own times. It's totally up to me. You're a busy mom-of-four and only have an hour a day to teach? Great! You're a university student on holiday and have hours with nothing to do? Also great! Your times, your schedule. Each class is 25 minutes long and there are no minimum hours you have to teach, so it's pretty decent. 3. No extra work! Okay, this is going to sound lazy, but I love the fact that the only thing I have to do at VIPKid is teach! No preparing lesson plans, no grading homework, no making exams, no preparing report cards... and no parent-teacher meetings :) I get the lesson, teach it, prov...
