Why VIPKid?
There are many online teaching companies out there. Why do I love VIPKid?
1. The kids. Seriously, they are adorable. Aged around 4 to 14 (with the occasional 3 year old!), most of these kids love to see you. Plus, as a Muslim girl, I like that the company targets kids exclusively.. none of the awkwardness of teaching guys my age or older :P
2. Flexibility. I set my own times. It's totally up to me. You're a busy mom-of-four and only have an hour a day to teach? Great! You're a university student on holiday and have hours with nothing to do? Also great! Your times, your schedule. Each class is 25 minutes long and there are no minimum hours you have to teach, so it's pretty decent.
3. No extra work! Okay, this is going to sound lazy, but I love the fact that the only thing I have to do at VIPKid is teach! No preparing lesson plans, no grading homework, no making exams, no preparing report cards... and no parent-teacher meetings :) I get the lesson, teach it, provide a few lines of feedback, and that's it.
4. Working from home (or anywhere). No commuting expenses, no ironing clothes last minute for work, no traffic, no nothing. I literally get up fifteen minutes before my first class in the morning, throw on a long sleeve shirt and a hijab and I'm ready to teach. If you're at home most of the time anyway (like I am), this job is really worth it.
5. The pay. The company advertises around $14 to $22 an hour. Realistically, it's a bit difficult to make 22 dollars an hour, but making around $16 to $20 is pretty standard. And, just in case you're worried (I know I was), it's not a scam. You get paid. Every week, every two weeks, every month, it's up to you.
So yeah, those are the main reasons, why I love VIPKid.
